Architecture 101- 3
I was a bit suspicious of this building at first. Until - One night I was walking home and I happened to look up. I saw a couple standing inside one of the windows and I realized their scope. They are huge. Ankle to Head. Beautiful yet deceiving. After that I started to consider this place with more care. I did not just dismiss it as a another "trying to hard art damaged dwelling" as I had on previous occasions. The windows, and there are tons of them wrap around the entire building providing the opportunity for tons of light. Which is essential.

Architecture 101- 2
OK so this building is a little suspect. But once again its all about the windows. I can imagine the corner apartments are pretty great. Two massive windows are always better than one. Now the building on a whole - not so sure about. Could be great but could be cheesy. First of all its on the avenue. And most times thats not so great. Secondly - whats up with the blue "art glass" insets in the windows? I hate it when designers feel the need to point arrows - like-"Hey! Over here... We are artists. We are different. Your not totally giving in to the establishment by living here". When in reality its just the opposite. Thirdly - what's happening up on the roof? No clue. To soon to tell but sadly - because of the blued out window panes I fear for the worst. We'll see but for now those ginormouse windows are holding it all together.

Architecture 101
I tend to like older architecture more and honestly dismiss a lot of the new stuff I see around. But I have had my eye on a couple of new things. Oddly enough they all happen to be on the same block. The first round of snaps are the ones I have posted above. Don't know who designed the building, Im sure someone famous. I love the metal screens that pull down in front of the apartment, like a garage door, to where I havent a clue... to no where... or everywhere, depends on how you look at it. Im not quite sure of the purpose. I guess for privacy with out having to block out all the beautiful light with drapes or blinds. Those windows are massive. Can you imagine the natural light in that place. Awesome. Whatever they are for I think they are cool. Sophisticated but still punk.
