The Shrimp "Berl"


My husbands cousin came up from New Orleans and met us at our house in Folly Beach SC. Last night he made us a Shrimp boil or as he calls it a Shrimp Berl. The ingredients were fresh, local shrimps we got at Crosbys on the Folly road and the rest we picked up at the Piggly Wiggly. There were potatoes, spicy sausages, mushrooms, corn on the cob, whole heads of garlic and a secret mixture of special cajun spices all thrown in a pot and boiled up. Then when it was done he took it out to the porch and dumped it all out on to some spread out newspapers on the table! No plates! No forks! No knifes! Just a bottle opener for the beers and some napkins for the rest! Delicious.
